About this entry
Horner is one of Melbourne’s longest-running recruitment, labour hire and HR consultancies.
In 2013, Horner’s OHS and Compliance team instigated an innovative return to work program with charity organisation St Vincent de Paul Society (Vinnies).
The program places injured workers who are capable of returning to work, but not to their pre-injury workplace or duties, at Vinnies shops to perform alternative duties as they rehabilitate.
Feedback from injured Horner employees has been overwhelmingly positive. They value the opportunity to recover at work while making a difference to a charitable cause.
Despite significant growth at Horner since 2010 and an increase in the number of injured employees , this initiative has been so successful that the total time lost from work has decreased from 600 days in 2010 to 139 days in 2017.
