About this entry

Daniel Casey demonstrated remarkable resilience and determination to return to work during his recovery from a bobcat incident that crushed his right foot at a Lake Bolac storage facility in 2014.

Daniel, a 33-year-old Manager at Mahoney’s Transport Services, required extensive treatment and support following his injury, which has involved more than 28 surgeries in 15 months. The injury significantly and permanently impacted on this active father’s life, as he had previously played and coached football.

Daniel experienced multiple set-backs with both his physical and emotional recovery. He recognised the need to talk to someone, receiving support from his wife and three young children to get through this challenging time.

While the nature of his injury meant that returning to his pre-injury role and employer was unsustainable in the long term, Daniel proactively secured a new role in a large machinery sales company in Colac.
