Field Bin wheel raiser - G.E. Silos Pty. Ltd.

Health and Safety Invention of the Year

G.E. Silos Manufactures silos for the agriculture industry. The invention we are entering is in relation to the field bins used on farms that has two modes, one is static when filled, the second is raised on wheels for transport. Previously this was done by moving a large heavy leaver and locking in a pin. This lever in that past has caused severe injuries to farmers. Our invention eliminates the whole hazard by replacing the Lever with a Hydraulic Bottle Jack. This means there is no chance of injuries from using this new device. Protecting the farmers

Stewart Finn - Metropolitan Express Transport Services Pty Ltd

Excellence in Health and Safety Management

Our organisation has developed a safety reporting program that is linked to a training and safety behaviour program. This has been running for over 5 years. We have three categories of drivers C [or enterprise agreement level], B [or safety leader level] and A or lighthouse leading level. Initially this process was monitored in a manual way with each employee asking for consideration when they felt that they had demonstrated the requirements of this system. Now we have an electronic system ZFI that does this and allows drivers to compare themselves against others for safety performance.

Local health and well being focus in school hours - Kooweerup Secondary College

Commitment to Workplace Health and Wellbeing

I work at a large Government school in country Victoria. As the domain leader of PE I decided that staff health and well-being should be seen as equally important as the initiatives I run for students. So I organised the work health checks for all staff and put together a range of wellbeing sessions for staff to attend in replace of staff meetings throughout the year (thanks to the grants)- these included the following options; nutrition sessions, yoga, Golf, swimming, Zumba, walking groups, a healthy cooking demo and lawn bowls. The staff thoroughly enjoyed being able to put their health first and during working hours. Everyone also received free passes to YMCA over the summer and weekly fruit deliveries to work.

Best solution to a workplace health and safety issue - Champions IGA Supermarket

Best Solution to a Specific Workplace Health and Safety Issue

We are a large supermarket with an instore meat room. We had a problem when receiving carcases of meat as there was no way to hook up to the meat rails. We had Carlile Engineering in Ballarat assist us with this problem and we developed a trolley with a rail that can be lifted by the fork lift up to the height of the truck and have the rail connect to the truck. This has reduced the manual handling of the heavy meat carcases.
