Katelyn Vosti - RTW Coordinator excellence - Patties Foods - Patties Foods Ltd

Return to Work Coordinator Excellence

Patties is the leading Australian-owned branded frozen food company and owns a range of brands including Four’N Twenty and Herbert Adams. Patties is based in Bairnsdale in Gippsland and is the largest employer in the area. I joined Patties in October last year in a new role as their Injury Management Coordinator. Previously, the HR Manager had to incorporate injury management into her role for a 500 person site. Since joining, I have created an injury management program from scratch. Having a positive relationship with treaters is one of the most important things in getting a worker back to work so I have really focused on building that relationship. The main action I have taken is gathering almost 30 local medical professionals at our worksite to educate them about Patties and Return to Work.

Solving a workplace problem using - Eastern Tertiary Alliance - Baulderstone Pty Ltd & United Group Infrastructure Pty Ltd

Best Solution to a Specific Workplace Health and Safety Issue

The Eastern Tertiary Alliance (comprising Melbourne Water, KBR, Black & Veatch, Baulderstone and United Group) was formed in 2010 to deliver $418M tertiary treatment upgrade works at the Eastern Treatment Plant. The tertiary upgrade significantly reduced the impact of the plant’s discharge by upgrading the current effluent treatment from secondary effluent treatment to high quality, non-potable recyclable water. Amongst several large, functionally integrated civil, mechanical and electrical structures constructed there included a sludge handling system. The erection of the proprietary mechanical units was complex and required working at heights of approximately 7m. To overcome the working at height and penetration issues, the project team designed and constructed temporary access bridges that were tailored to suit the tight working conditions but also remove critical risks.
