Best Solution to a Specific Workplace Health and Safety Issue

This category recognises individuals and organisations that have developed and implemented a solution to a health and safety issue in their own workplace.  

Excellence in Health and Safety Management

This category acknowledges a management representative (or a person responsible for health and safety as part of their duties) who has achieved significant improvements to health and safety within their workplace. It recognises the ability to bring about proactive change and demonstrate resilience in achieving outcomes. Please note: Employee elected health and safety representatives (HSRs) should enter the 'Health and Safety Representative of the Year' category.  

Health and Safety Committee of the Year

This category acknowledges the roles and functions of health and safety committees (HSCs) and recognises performance and achievements that demonstrate high level consultation and commitment to health and safety across the entire workplace.  

Health and Safety Invention of the Year

This category recognises individuals and organisations that develop and/or manufacture innovative solutions to health and safety issues or hazards. These solutions must be invented by the entrant and not be off the shelf or imported products. The product is, or will be, made available commercially.  

Health and Safety Representative of the Year

This category acknowledges elected health and safety representatives (HSRs) who have made a significant contribution and demonstrable difference to health and safety within their designated workgroups (DWGs). Please note: OHS managers or other management/employer representatives should enter the 'Excellence in OHS Management' category.  

OHS Management System of the Year

This category recognises larger organisations that demonstrate quantifiable best practice outcomes via a fully implemented, integrated and tailored OHS management system (OHSMS).

Champions must undergo expert review to progress through to the stringent validation and judging process and can only progress to the next stage of entry once WorkSafe are satisfied that the entry/entrant has met the relevant award category criteria and terms and condition of entry.

Before you enter the WorkSafe Awards, we recommend you prepare:

  • A few images that best represent the entry, showing either examples of the changes it has made in your workplace or the things people have done to make improvements. (These should be of a useable web format, e.g. JPG, PNG or GIF). Images embedded in Word or PDF documents will not be uploaded.
  • Any video supporting footage. Please add in a link to your YouTube or Vimeo video in the notes section of the entry form.
  • Your entry! Think about what you did to improve workplace health, safety, or return to work. How did you do it? What problems did it solve?
